3 types of Undertones
Warm: Warm includes golden, yellow, or peachy undertones.
Cool: Cool includes pink, red, or blueish undertones.
Neutral: You are neutral if you are a mixture of warm and cool.
Once you identify your undertone, this will guide you to the right shade. If you have a neutral undertone with medium skin tone, your shade number will for example be 5N. If you have a deeper skin tone with a warm undertone, your shade number can for example be 9W.
The rule of thumb for choosing your concealer shade is based on the shade of your foundation. When picking the shade, consider your main concerns, such as pigmentation, dark circles, or acne. A lighter shade is ideal for brightening under-eye circles, but if you want to cover spots and scars, a closer match to your skin tone is preferable. Make sure to test concealer in natural lighting since artificial lighting can yield the wrong shade.
If the number of your No Compromise Foundation is 5N – your concealer number will be 5NC or 5NW. The concealers are designed to be a bit brighter in shade, so if you prefer a brighter look, you don’t necessarily need to go for a lower number. If you have a neutral skin tone, you can choose both a NW and NC shade number since neutrals can lean slightly warm or cool. NC is more beneficial to conceal blue areas while NW blocks out redness.
