In general, there are three main types of cookies:
- The first type (“session cookie”) is temporarily stored on your computer while you are browsing a page. It is automatically deleted when you close your browser.
- The second type (“permanent cookie”) saves a file for a long time on your computer until it reaches its expiry date. It can be used to customize a website based on your choices. For example, permanent cookies may use features to register your preferred language setting on a website.
- The third type (“third-party cookie”) is a cookie that belongs to different domains than those displayed in the address field, meaning that a cookie is placed by a website other than the one the user is visiting. For example, third-party cookies enable tracing of the user’s browsing history.
